Maybach for two

Mercedes-Benz has unveiled a new luxury convertible car: the Mercedes-Maybach SL Monogram Series. The new ride is based on the Mercedes-AMG SL, but has a different body type: while the base Merc is a cabrio with rear seats, the Maybach version is a two-seater roadster. The back row is given up in favor of a small luggage compartment for a valise, trimmed with nappa leather and covered with a rigid fairing.

The Mercedes-Maybach SL 680 Monogram Series sports Maybach design elements such as the chrome radiator grille with illuminated contours and the signature star, which is located on the bonnet and not inside the grille as on the Mercedes. Manufaktur Exclusive nappa leather in crystal white and chrome details in the interior create an atmosphere of relaxed luxury.

Two versions of the model will be available at the start of sales - ‘Red Ambience’ and ‘White Ambience’. The cars are distinguished by spectacular two-tone paintwork: in ‘Red Ambience’ black metallic is combined with garnet-red metallic Manufaktur, and in ‘White Ambience’ — with the signature Opalite White Magno shade. An extra option is the hand-applied Maybach logo print on the bonnet. The instrument cluster and entertainment display graphics have signature Maybach design.

Under the bonnet of the SL 680 Monogram Series sits a 4-litre biturbo engine with an output of 585 hp, paired with a 9G-TRONIC automatic transmission and 4MATIC+ all-wheel drive.

Convertible cars under the Mercedes-Maybach brand have been produced in small series before. In 2016, the company built 300 Mercedes-Maybach S 650 cabrios and in 2017, 99 Mercedes-Maybach G 650 Landaulet SUVs. In contrast to those, the production of the Mercedes-Maybach SL 680 Monogram Series roadster is not limited. The sales of Maybach SL Monogram Series in Europe will launch in spring 2025, with other markets to follow. Along with the car, buyers will be offered a collection of accessories inspired by the car's materials and colours, including a leather jacket, trainers and a tote bag.
